On Saturday, May 14, the National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) will once again join forces with Campbell Soup Company, the U.S. Postal Service, Feeding America, Valpak, the National Rural Letter Carriers' Association, the AFL-CIO, United Way and Uncle Bob's Self Storage to Stamp Out Hunger across America in order to provide assistance to the rapidly increasing number of Americans who are struggling with hunger.

Now in its 19th year, the Stamp Out Hunger effort is the nation’s largest single-day food drive.  In 2010, we not only set a record with a total of 77.1 million pounds of food donated, but also surpassed one billion pounds of food collected over the 18-year history of the drive.

Despite the generosity of millions of Americans who have supported the food drive, the need for food assistance has never been greater. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s annual study measuring food security in the United States, the number of Americans living in food insecure homes reached more than 50 million in 2009, with approximately one in every three food insecure Americans being a child (17.2 million).

Spreading the word about the drive, your efforts and hard work locally are a critical component of this drive’s success, and we have made doing so more interactive and easy through the use of our media kit and premiums found on this Web site.

Please feel free to contact our media relations team with any questions about the materials or premiums.

Thank you for your continued support; we look forward to this year being the best one yet!

Fredric V. Rolando

President, National Association of Letter Carriers
